Agatha Christie’s Peril at End House – Predictable

Peril at End House

Taking a look at Agatha Christie‘s work – Peril at End House, published in 1932, this time. The story did not make an impression that it was supposed to do.

Christie employs the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as the central character for the story. Accompanying Poirot, Arthur Hastings returns to the picture playing his role well.

Mademoiselle ‘Nick’ is in danger, as she had survived three narrow escapes from death. Poirot takes up his detective role into the case with the use of his usual ‘little grey cells’.  How the story unfolds from there is up to the reader to take care of. Interestingly, Poirot fumbles but makes up in the end with clear head.

Narration by the author has its great flow till the end. But Christie fails to match the suspense and unpredictability seen in her other works. The reader is able to judge the accused even before the first-half of the story.

Not the best from the stable of Agatha Christie but deserves a mention for its clean narration.

Peril at End House –  a predictable peril in the end!

Looking at the World from the Clouds

Here I’m sitting on top of the moving clouds. They – the clouds are like a cushion making me comfortable. The music of Anberlin’s Innocent passes through my ears like sea waves.

When I look down at the earth from here, there is no better scenic beauty other than this. The whistling sound of the wind made the music even soothing. Waving my hands at the clouds moving in the opposite direction, I scooped up the chill snow from them. I felt the chill as I held the snow in my hands.

Again, my attention was turning towards the earth. The blue oceans down there was inviting me for a swimming session. I rose up and in one moment of boldness, I decided to go for it. Taking a deep breath to the bottom of my lungs, I jumped, hoping to hit the blue oceans. The winds were hitting me as hard as they could. My eyes were feeling the force of the moving winds. I was about to hit the waters in a few seconds.

Rushed the blue waters on my head. The rush was so intense that it produced electricity and obviously a tremendous shock.

I opened my eyes to see myself lying in the bed. ‘Where am I?’, I murmured.

‘Get up and go for work idiot. You will wake up only when I pour water on you’, my mom shouted.

Yes, it was the blue waters that hit me. But not the waters from the Blue oceans, instead, the waters from the water tank of my house.

When the Stranger Entered the Heart

There was only one thing that connected him with the stranger. It is the mystery. Yes, it is the mystery that the stranger showered him at the very first sight.

He searches for the stranger whenever he comes to that place. He looks around the surroundings and at all the people. He spends extra time waiting to see the stranger who has hypnotized him. But he leaves the place disappointed. The stranger is not to be seen in that place again.

He thinks about the stranger from days to nights. He has no clue about the stranger’s identity or whereabouts. He has met the stranger only on five occasions but that was more than enough to make an impact in his heart.

What is the reason for his attachment to a complete stranger to whom he has never spoken to? He has no answers for this question. But he knows one thing…

The stranger has entered his heart.

He wants to know the reason for this instant connection with the stranger. He is waiting and he wants to unravel the mystery surrounding his stranger. He will unravel the mystery soon.

Everyone has Something to Hide – Fiction

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd

‘Everyone concerned in them has something to hide’, said Hercule Poirot.

Agatha Christie has pulled out a clean thriller in ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd‘, which gets better and better as the story goes forward. The author earns a special praise for writing a complex story that has numerous characters and subplots.

The beauty of the story is that every character is doubted as the murderer. This is very well complimented by Hercule Poirot with his stand that ‘Everyone concerned in them has something to hide’.

The book falls under the league of classic detective mystery fiction and has great narration by Christie. Two characters steal the show in their own different styles – Hercule Poirot and Dr. Sheppard. Poirot sticks to his little old grey cells and Sheppard plays the perfect foil for the mystery. Everyone has something to hide, true enough!

The story’s end haunted me for hours. It is indeed one of Christie’s masterpiece.

Ernest Hemingway Wrote So…

"A man can be destroyed but not defeated." ― Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea.

After reading Ernest Hemingway’s ‘The Old Man and the Sea‘, one sentence has got my attention.

“A man can be destroyed but not defeated. ” ― Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea.

A man can be easily destroyed but cannot be defeated completely. It calls for the high spirits of a man.

There would be a lot of things that go deep inside a man’s heart. It hurts him, pulls him down, tests his creditability, challenges him and even makes him appear like a fool. But a man with a strong will power and patience will not be defeated. It is not about the masculinity or testosterone levels. It is all about how a man holds his composure during the hardships and difficult times.

The struggle is so worth fighting for.

Again, a man can be destroyed but he cannot be defeated completely.

Talking to the Butterfly

Early in the morning, I found you kissing the flowers,
So passionate, so intense;
It never appeared that you were drinking nectar.

Allow me to touch you with a watery feather,
Allow me to look into your eyes slowly,
Allow me to talk to you in a feeble voice.

I spent my childhood running behind you,
I wished to touch you and kiss you,
I wished to talk to you and be friends with you.

But you kept flying away from me,
You thought that I was scary,
You never gave me a chance.

Allow me to enter your heart like a smiling kid,
Allow me to touch your delicate eyelashes with mine,
Allow me talk to you like your childhood friend.

Rain, you are so lame,
Your darkness overshadows the night,
You have to take the blame,
Your infidelity ruined my night.
Rain, I hate you this time.

Speak Up and Open Your Thoughts to the Right People

Speak up and open your thoughts to the right people. Be expressive.
Speak up and open your thoughts to the right people. Be expressive.

Why don’t we try to be a bit expressive? Why don’t we try to speak our mind to the people we really know? Why don’t we start a conversation with the right people to get a new direction in our lives?

Man is known to be a Social Animal. Human beings are gifted with the ability to speak. They can connect with their fellow beings through communication. But are we communicating with people, really? Really?

Domestic animals such as cats and dogs are better at communicating with people rather than humans. Pets convey their true feelings to people by their own languages. So where have we failed in communicating with the people we know.

Open up people. Open your mind, heart and mouth. Speak up. Speak out what you really feel. Let people know about you and try to know about people.

Speak and connect with the right people. That’s the beauty of communication in life.

When we speak to the right people with similar interests, it will lead to a better conversation. We get to know more about the world and people. Healthy communication leads to a change in the thoughts and perceptions of people. It will open up new avenues for a better life.  It is always good when we speak to the right people at the right time.

So be Expressive!

Earning Success the Hard Way

Magic

I want to earn success the hard way. I want to go there, give my heart in whatever I’m doing. I want to give my best creation with utmost dedication.

I don’t want a shortcut to success. I want to go there, toil myself, learn more and do what I love.

I want to write more. I want to create magic in my writings. When people read my posts, they should witness magic and feel a satisfaction of reading something valuable. I want to be a good writer by the hard way. I want to improve day by day.

I’m not a son of a millionaire. I’m not a superman. But I’m a very ordinary person and I want to earn success by working my ass off.

I want to earn success the hard way,

I want to create magic in my writings,

I want to give my heart into my writings,

I want the magic in my writings to reach people,

I want to be a good writer through the hard way,

Writing this post from the bottom of my heart.

My Mystery Lady

Love Love Love
Love Love Love (Photo credit: Gregory Jordan)

Penning these words for my mystery lady,
Remembering the day one I saw you here,
Standing silently beside me like a stranger,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.

Thinking about something that I never knew,
Pretending as if you never looked at me,
Giving me no clue,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.

Seeing my mystery lady after three months,
Feeling a burst of newborn emotions,
Telling myself that the lady is special,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.

Meeting my mystery lady face to face,
Blocking her way unknowingly,
Looking at each others’ eyes,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.

Moving in opposite directions,
Pausing for a matter of purpose,
Turning and looking behind at each other simultaneously,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.

Seeing my mystery lady after a week,
Walking past her quickly,
Overtaking her intentionally,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.

Waiting for my mystery lady at the same place,
Wearing contrasting colors of attire,
Looking at each others’ eyes passionately,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.

Penning these words for my mystery lady,
Watching you again like the day one I saw you here,
Standing silently beside me like my love,
Knowing nothing about the next moment.
